Visit Spanish bodegas.
We moved to Spain and settled near the small town of La Romana. This region is known for its almond trees and large vineyards. We ourselves like a good glass of wine and thought it was a nice idea to visit several bodegas here in the area. That's how we started at Bodega Alejandro. This bodega is located between Monovar and Pinoso. You have many types of wines in different price ranges. That was certainly the case here. For example, you have bottles of € 2,-, but also of more than €100,-. We were looking for a nice house wine and these are mainly kept in the wine barrels. The nice thing is that if you take wine from a wine barrel that you spend between € 1.05 and € 1.45 per liter at this bodega. Well those are nice prices and the wines are fine. At this bodega you can also taste the peeling wines from barrel and that is nice before you take something home.

Then we drove to Bodega Cerda in Hondon de las Nieves. This is a beautiful bodega with a museum and a winery. You can taste the local wines here, get a tour of the history with a detailed explanation of how the wine is made in the bodega. Here too we tasted different wines and actually wanted a tour, but it turned out that this was only possible from a group of 4 people. A Dutch couple just walked in who were also interested in the tour. Then we got into a conversation and then decided to do that the next day with the four of us. So we went back the next day and got the tour there. It is a family business and this was clearly visible, because everything was told with a lot of passion. After the tour there was a small wine tasting (glass of white or rosé, a red, cava and a port). At this wine tasting we also got a few small snacks and this for € 20,- per person. It is on the pricey side, but that is this bodega anyway. Everything is just a bit more expensive. The four of us then sat down on the terrace at the bodega and this was very cozy, but absolutely not worth the price. You better go to another local terrace, because you will be shocked by the final bill. If you like wines then this is a bodega to have seen at least once and they have really nice wines.

We eventually went to the bodega in La Romana itself and here we tasted different wines again. This bodega is certainly cheaper than bodega Cerda. At least when it comes to bottles of wine. It is true that there is certainly a difference in taste, but more expensive really does not always mean better. The price of the wine from the wine barrels is fairly the same everywhere. We have bought different wines from all three bodegas and now we have to taste which ones we really think are the best. Salud!!
