Merry Christmas!

Everywhere in Spain, Christmas is well celebrated with family and friends. In Spain, Christmas Eve (Nochebuena) is the most important moment of Christmas. That evening we heard bell sounds coming from the village and apparently many people go to the evening mass in the church. Then the families come together and enjoy an extensive meal. Many restaurants are therefore closed this evening. Certainly something to take into account if you live in Spain or are on holiday. On Dia de Navidad (Christmas Day), Spaniards also visit their family and friends to have a bite to eat together. On this day, of course, the gifts for the small children should not be forgotten. Most children in Spain receive their presents from the three kings on January 6, but on Christmas Day they usually also receive a small gift.

There are of course also a lot of tourists and there is plenty to do in Spain. Wherever you are, something is always organized. Like celebrating Christmas together on the beach with a nice BBQ. And that was also possible this year, because it was 25 degrees here. For us this was the first year that we celebrated Christmas in Spain. We celebrated this at home with delicious homemade Spanish tapas, a good bottle of wine and bubbles. What more could you want? For Frank, making dishes on the 'Green Egg' is his favorite and has prepared several tapas on top of it and it was delicious! It took some getting used to this year at Christmas. Normally we are with family on Christmas Day. Fortunately with today's technology, we were able to FaceTime with the family for a while. The idea that you can sit outside with your shorts at Christmas is another sensation. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed celebrating Christmas in this way.

In Spain they do not have Boxing Day. There are families in Spain who come together to eat the leftover food from Christmas Day. This day we grabbed a terrace with Spanish Christmas music in the background. We hope everyone had a merry Christmas and we wish everyone a happy new year (Feliz Ano Nuevo)!!!
